6 years later!

Kenny and I celebrated our 6 year Anniversary on Saturday. The kids went up to my parents for the weekend and we went to Park City. It was nice to have some time away, I love my boys but everybody needs a little break now and then. They had a blast of course, fourwheelers, tractors, animals, and being completely spoiled! Thanks mom and dad we appreciate you!

We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called the Washington School Inn. It was very.... quaint.

Not only did I come back well rested but with a cold! I'll just blame it on pregnancy shall I? We even got to go to a movie! Something that doesn't happen very often. Iron Man. It was very good, so if you like those type of movies and need a date night I reccommend it.

Thanks for a great weekend honey! I love you and can't wait to spend the next many years with you!

A Day Outside!

It was perfect yesterday!

I know you want to be like your brother but I think you should stick the the little climber slide Landon!
I turned around to find this! He sat down, Jack popped him up! As you can tell, he liked it. Jackson has been begging for a teeter-totter partner.
Not complete without popsicles!

The trees in front of my house are in bloom, and it's just so pretty.I guess we should enjoy today since tomorrow is going to be yucky.

Car Seat Safety 101

Ready for your next lesson?

Week 2- Proper Harnessing
Which harness slots? Use the ones at or below shoulder level when rear-facing. And, at or above shoulder level when forward-facing.

The chest clip, should go exactly where the name of it tells you, at the chest, armpit level. It's not a belly clip, but a chest clip. It keeps the harness in the proper location on the shoulders for maximum protection. If it is slid down on the belly it can cause major internal damage in an accident, as well as prevent the child from staying restrained in the seat.
The harnesses should fit snugly. There are two tests to determine if it is snug enough. The pinch test, if you can pinch it easily(up by the shoulders), it's not tight enough. And the finger test, you should be able to only fit one finger under the straps up by the shoulder. If you can fit more, not tight enough. In an accident the webbing on the harness is designed to stretch up to 14%. If your straps are loose to begin with, well they will only become more loose. It will defeat the purpose of having them restrained if they don't stay in the harness, right?
Once again, any questions? Throw 'em at me! Oh, and isn't my little subject just cute?

Aye Matey!

Jackson and Landon were playing in Jack's room and this is what emerged. A cooking Pirate! (that's a little oven mitt on his hand) It was too cute not to take a picture. And then he proceeded to wear the pirate hat the rest of the morning and was upset if it fell off.

Me in all my glory!

Still not sure why I am posting this, but I figure it's a good way to document this pregnancy since I haven't done much of that otherwise. So here I am 29 weeks prego (please ignore the tubby arms). Things are going just dandy! I really have fairly easy pregnancies so I feel like I can't complain too much, but I am still entitled to complain a little bit right? I get these awful leg cramps at night, that seem to last forever. I have to smack Kenny out of his slumber to try and rub it away, but mostly that only makes it hurt worse. Any tips? I already feel like an old women when I have to bend over and pick something up, I shouldn't be struggling that bad yet. And I feel like this little one is a tall baby, cause I swear he can wedge into my rib and my hip at the same time. I find myself stretching back to try and give him more room, but I don't think it helps much. On the other hand it is so amazing to feel him move and know that he is growing well. I see these little newborns and I get so excited to bring one into our home. Not sure if I will survive or not with three little ones 3 and under, but we will cross that bridge when we get there!

My weekly contribution...

To help my funk of posting I have decided to do a weekly post. Many of us have hobbies, passions, or things that interest us that we want to share. Well, over the last couple of years I have become very interested in car seat safety. So I am going to hop on my soapbox and try to share a tip, statistic, fact, etc., each week and hope that I can give some of you new information that you may not have known, which will help keep your little ones safe. I was amazed at all the things I have learned that get overlooked, causing about 1/3 of children in the wrong restraint for their age and size, and an estimated 73% to 90% of car seats are not installed or used correctly. It’s more than just putting your kids in a car seat; it’s using it correctly that keeps them safe in an accident. My intention is not to tell you what to do, no one likes that. But, I do want to share with you what I know and you can make a decision after that.

So, for Week 1, we’ll talk about installation, seems like a good place to start. The first thing you want to do before anything, is read your car seat manual and your car manual. There are certain places in some cars where child restraints are not allowed, there are many vehicles that you cannot use LATCH in the center position, but only outboard, some infant seat handles are to be left up, others must be put down, etc. So become familiar with your vehicle and seat. When installing your seat, use the seat belt or LATCH, not both. To properly secure the seat you will most likely need to get your knee into the seat to push down as you tighten the belt. Using a rocking motion from side to side will also help. A little movement is okay as long as it is less than an inch at the belt path. If you can’t get it tight enough try a different spot in your vehicle. And don’t forget to hook your top tether. And also it never hurts to get help. Here is a link to where you can find out where to get your seat checked by a tech. http://www.safekidsweb.org/events/events.asp

So that’s it, sweet and simple. If you have questions please ask and I can address them in another post.

Slacker, slacker!

Wow, I am a big time slacker! I wish I had more interesting things to post about, I love reading friends ramblings, but I just don't think my rambling's are contenders. Something will happen, and I will think, oh I should blog about that. But then I forget. Maybe I should keep a little notepad with me at all times, do you think that would help? My kids do cute things I promise, I just need to be better about writing them down. One of Jackson's famous phrases lately when I ask him to do something (like pump himself on the swing), or if he would like to do something in particular, he responds with, "But I'm not much big enough" Sad eyes and all.
