Oh Baby!

So since we are getting closer to this little one's arrival I am trying to get everything ready. The rooms are what we worked on last weekend. We moved Jackson and Landon in together and got them bunk beds. Saturday was their first night in their new room. They kept giggling and talking and wouldn't go to sleep. So every time I opened the door Landon would drop down and lay down, but really I think he was the little instigator! Jackson fell asleep and Lando was the one up chatting and playing. He finally crashed around 10:30! Hopefully with time he will get used to it. Cause I don't have another option! We plan to do the babies room this weekend, hopefully.
But, my reasoning for this post is for your opinions! I was thinking about getting some things for this baby that I didn't have with the other two, so share your insight please on if you think they are worthy of my husbands hard earned money.

The first is the Bumbo. Yay? Nay?

Next, is one of those Swaddling blankets. I always just wrapped them in a normal blanket but have always wondered if I would like one of these better. So if you have recommendations, please share which one you used.

This one I am for sure getting, I just don't know from where yet. A nursing cover. I am taking suggestions!

The other thing I need is some new bottles. I used Avent with the other two, and I still have them, but I think their life span is used up, and I would like to use something that is BPA free. I was thinking about those drop in ones? Anybody use those that they like?

And of course if you have any other fabulous baby item that you want to recommend, send it my way!

Planes, Trains, and Space...

Last week was a busy one! After driving by all the time, and talking about going, we finally took the boys to the Hill Airforce Museum last Thursday. It was very cool and I think Kenny enjoyed the bigs planes as much as the boys!
My little pilots.

They had a fun kids center were they could use some of the similators and play with toys that had anything to do with planes and space.

Then on Saturday we took the Frontrunner into Salt Lake.

Wating for the train.

I really wish I would have gotten Jackson on video, he was beyond excited about riding a train. We went to the Clark planetarium at the Gateway. And lucky for us it happened to be National Astronomy day, so all the movies in the dome theater were only a $1. So we saw the Secret of the Cardboard Rocket. Very cute little cartoon, Jackson still talks about all the planets.
The best part about all our activities was the price! The airforce museum is free, (donations accepted) the clark planetarium is free, the movie being only a dollar. The only thing we really had to pay for was the frontrunner ($12.50 round trip for a family pass) and food. It was nice to not have to worry about parking or anything.

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope all you ladies have had as wonderful of a day as I have! When I finally dragged myself out of bed this morning I came into the family room to sit by Jackson, who was watching a show. The first thing he says is,"Mommy, can I have one of your chocolate strawberries?" "What?" I had no idea what he was talking about. So I glanced into the kitchen to find this!

My sweet husband had gotten up and dipped strawberries for me! No sir, didn't buy them, but dipped them himself! I was, and still am, very impressed. He even had some extra chocolate, and being very creative, he dipped some orange slices, yum! Anything dipped in chocolate is fine by me! There to the side is some root beer float popcorn, and some yummy smelling candles! I am so lucky to have such a great man in my life, one that loves me and appreciates me and who is an awesome role model to these two little ones. I love you Honey, Thank you for letting me feel like the luckiest mom in the world!

Today at church I even got to go to Relief Society! It's been a long time! The young men and women took over the primary for the last half. It was so nice to have a little spiritual uplift.

I am so very thankful for the mother's in my life. My wonderful mother, and the caring person that you are. You are amazing! And I am so glad that you are my mom, you are the perfect example to me of what a mother should be and I only hope that I can reach that level someday!

My mom-in-law. Thank you for taking me in as one of your own, and making me always feel like a daughter. Thank you for raising my fabulous husband, and helping him become the father that he is. You are so great to our boys and I appreciate everything you do for them and for us as a family.

A friend of mine sent this to me and I couldn't resist sharing it. It just really put motherhood into perspective for me. Blame it on the hormones, but I cried.

So, Happy Mom's Day to all you mother's and mother's to be. It is truly a role I wouldn't give up, regardless of all the emotions, struggles, poopy diapers, crying babies, tantrum toddlers, and sassy three year olds. My boys are the highlight of my life. Last weekend while being away, I realized just how empty my heart would be without them. I only hope that I can be the mom that they deserve.

Car Seat 101

I skipped a week, (or two) oh well who's counting. Back in my first post a friend asked a very good question. So, I thought I would just answer that for this post.

"This might sound dumb but why can't you use the latch system and the seat belt?? We thought that would be extra safe. I would love to know if I should only use one."

Not a dumb question at all. You should absolutely only use one. There is no need for both. In general, you use whichever system results in a more secure installation for the seat in your car. That is the one that is safer.

Car seats are designed to handle crash forces in specific ways. While we know, thanks to crash testing, that baby's car seat will withstand crash forces when installed with the seat belt, or with LATCH , we don't know if the same car seat will withstand crash forces when both systems are used at the same time. Putting two installation belts through the same belt path could put stress on the car seat shell from two different angles during a crash, causing breakage. Almost like they are fighting against eachother. Using two installation belts could also concentrate more crash force on a small area of the car seat. So, in a nutshell, it hasn't been tested that way, but each one has been tested individually. The main rule is to follow the guidelines from the manufacturer. When you install the car seat using methods not outlined in the instruction manual, you are, in a way, using your child as the crash test dummy, because we cannot be sure of what will happen when car seats are used in ways that have not been crash tested and approved.

6 years later!

Kenny and I celebrated our 6 year Anniversary on Saturday. The kids went up to my parents for the weekend and we went to Park City. It was nice to have some time away, I love my boys but everybody needs a little break now and then. They had a blast of course, fourwheelers, tractors, animals, and being completely spoiled! Thanks mom and dad we appreciate you!

We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called the Washington School Inn. It was very.... quaint.

Not only did I come back well rested but with a cold! I'll just blame it on pregnancy shall I? We even got to go to a movie! Something that doesn't happen very often. Iron Man. It was very good, so if you like those type of movies and need a date night I reccommend it.

Thanks for a great weekend honey! I love you and can't wait to spend the next many years with you!
